Sometimes you have to just step off the scale! That number on the scale really does not tell you much on a daily basis. Instead, use pictures, measurements, how your clothes fit and/or calipers to chart progress. Our weight changes day to day, based on a number of different factors.
Here are just a few that will make the scale inch upward temporarily:
• More carbs consumed
• Increased sodium intake
• Hormonal fluctuations
• Lack of sleep
• Water retention due to challenging workouts
• Inflammatory foods
For some of us, seeing the scale go up actually means success! If you are working on changing your body composition by reducing your body fat and increasing muscle for well proportioned look, you might actually gain weight as you get smaller!
