2 Great HIIT Workouts! for Quick Weight Loss

Hiit workouts. By now you’ve probably heard the word from a friend who is into fitness, or read about it online or in a magazine. According to a survey conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine, HIIT is one of the top two fitness trends for 2014, placing right after bodyweight workouts. The term HIIT is quickly gaining traction with people who are looking to reduce fat and lose weight quickly. HIIT is energizing, less boring then steady rate cardio and can be done almost anywhere with little or no equipment.

In the past, there has been an ongoing debate about which type of cardio might be more effective, but experts seem to be siding increasingly with the HIIT approach. “At this point, there’s no longer an opinion when it comes to HIIT vs. steady-state aerobic activity; there’s only fact,” says Robert dos Remedios, director of speed, strength and conditioning at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif., and author of Cardio Strength Training: Torch Fat, Build Muscle and Get Stronger Faster. “The research shows not only superior fat loss with HIIT, but also superior aerobic and cardiovascular benefits. I see this with my athletes, as well.”

For those who need a little background info, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), also called high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIE) or sprint interval training (SIT), is a form of interval training. Interval training is an exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. A good and very simple example of this might be sprinting for 1 minute, followed by brisk walk for 1 minute and repeated 10 times.

HIIT can take a lot of energy and endurance, but the payoff is worth it! We suggest using an all-natural energy-enhancing supplement, or a pre workout powder before taking on these high intensity workouts. Also, since HIIT workouts can be extremely demanding on your body, we recommend that you check with your physician first to make sure these workouts are suitable for you, especially if you have a history of a heart condition, chest pains, dizziness etc.
